Simple Yet Complicated

ALTEWAISAOME FALL 2014 ❖

...INSANE bibs & AMAZING embellishments...
...BOSS of color-blocking & IRRESISTIBLE layers...

I flipped when I saw these bibs and beaded embellishments.
Then I fell in love with the surprising layers.
Love the little turtle neck (mom would call that a dickey)
with the deep plunging necklines. I'm CRAZY over this color palate too!
Such smart, beautiful styling.

Confessions . . .

This is why I scroll.
and scroll...and scroll!

For months I've been painting a bookcase/media cabinet that HandyHusband built for the family room re-do. Each phase has been a painful one for this cabinet. HandyHusband's dyslexia got the pieces all flipped around when he installed a drawer for CDs and that was a tearful discovery when he so proudly brought it home and tried to put it together. (Picture HH in the floor, on his back, with a tear rolling toward his ear.) But it all worked out. Back to the workshop, corrections were made, but it was now my turn on the project. I decided it needed to be "decoratively" painted, distressed and glazed.

Unfortunately, I'm still on the decoratively painted phase...it's a pain!
It takes hours and hours. I'm pleased so far, but I was stuck!
Until I saw the image above this morning on PLAID!
Do you follow their blog? YOU SHOULD!

Images above were gathered from Benjamin Moore by PLAID!
Benjamin Moore Color stories are also a good follow!
Base Molding, HERE I COME!

Alive After 5 . . .

A link to these adorable dresses
showed up in my inbox today.

Donna Morgan ❖

They look like great Friday dresses when you
need to cross the week's finish line and go straight
to meet your friends to start the weekend.

They are made of Polyester and Spandex.
Normally, that would worry me a little,
but the prints are so sassy, I think they are worth a look!
And chances are, they're going to look the same at 8pm as they
did at 8am when you put it on.

Poetic Color . . .

...CRAZY for the COLOR...

...CRAZY for the SHAPE...

...CRAZY for the STYLE...

...CRAZY for the DRAPE...

...CRAZY for the COLORS I SEE...

...CRAZY for ITALY...

Seriously, these pieces are insanely beautiful!
I'm no poet, but Stella Jean sure is!

Someone Asked . . .

Today, someone asked me, "What's on your needles?"
Now, you know I couldn't give just one answer, because
I think every needle has something on it.
It's a little problem I have, so...

I said, "You mean which needles currently have my hands on them?"
...That would be my 3's...

And this is what's on them.
Kettle Dyed 60% Baby Alpaca, 40% Pima Cotton
Solid: Color #2318, Multi: Color #7325

It looks like Sea Glass to me!
And no, as usual, I have no idea what the finished
garment will look like, but it's a top-down animal graph.
I'm sure, being on size 3's, that it will take me through the
upcoming Bachelorette season, so we'll just call it Emily for now.
If you follow my knitting adventures, you know I knit at least
one project during the Bachelor/Bachelorette season.
This season was filmed here in Charlotte!
Watch and knit something with me!
What's on your needles?

Race To Rikshaw !

I don't think I've ever enjoyed ANY Spring garment
as much as I did my Rikshaw Kurta.
Her new spring 2012 line is live!

I think I need two this year, don't you??
They are so fun and look, they make you dance on the counter!

KURTA POWER!

This was PrettyStuff's graduation! HandyHusband
and I were the last parents standing on Friday night and
I'm pretty sure that BeatDropping (pictured bodyguard) thought I
was going head first into the floor when I hopped up on the counter top to
take pictures of the party. Little did I know that it would be documented.

Psst: this dancing picture was sorta staged.
I was actually pretty invisible, taking pictures of crying dancing Kappa Deltas.
Thanks for the pic Sarah and I love your blog header :D

Black & Grey & Me All Over !

Love, Zooey just made a serious dent on my Christmas Wish List!
...I hope somebody's listening...

...No words, just black, grey and comfy...

This sweatshirt dress is KILLING ME!
I might not ever take it off.

Now, I don't have the fanny any more for this dress,
but the back...I love that!

...Love the silky touch under the grey sweatshirt look...

Can I wear sweats out and about if I look like this?
Love the little drawstring in the back of the cardi.

I.AM.SMITTEN.
I think I have a new favorite line!
LisaA, surely you just crushed a little too?!!
