ALTEWAISAOME FALL 2014 ❖

...INSANE bibs & AMAZING embellishments...
...BOSS of color-blocking & IRRESISTIBLE layers...

I flipped when I saw these bibs and beaded embellishments.
Then I fell in love with the surprising layers.
Love the little turtle neck (mom would call that a dickey)
with the deep plunging necklines. I'm CRAZY over this color palate too!
Such smart, beautiful styling.

Spring Obsession . . .

I. AM. SMITTEN!
I'm not here to discuss my Needs vs Wants issues, remember?
"You can't have everything, where would you put it?"
But, no, I don't actually NEED this little straw tote,
but I WANT IT!

and, by George, I might just have to ORDER IT, because it is perfect.
Not to mention the cutest logo I've seen in a way long time!

Insta - Crush !

I am totally smitten with these little
Simone Ceramique "Love Houses" for votive candles
made in Israel from LINEN & MILK!
Each house is different and signed by the artist.
I ran across them on INSTAGRAM somehow
and went down the rabbit hole of following links.
They are adorable and I want every single one!
The little laundry house kills me!

Off To My Happy Place !

HandyHusband planted these in the backyard a few years back.
They are HUGE now and the color is AMAZING!
They are right behind my favorite perch @ my in-laws.
The view from where I sit...
As you can see, it's pretty hard to get up!

It took us awhile to get the boats in the water.
They're old and needed some "tweeking."
They're not worth taking pictures of!
One we call "The Ugly Duckling," if that gives you a mental image!
Let's just say there's duck tape and glue involved.
Not a pretty picture, but fun.
Mrs. Johnson's little boat, on the other hand, is one
of my favorite sights of the summer...

Meanwhile, back at the cottage! I welcome a rainy day! Inspiration is everywhere you look when the sun's out sooo... Let it RAIN! It has to actually be pouring to keep us inside though, and we only had one rainy day for me to make a mess like this. I took way more than I finished, but my sister-in-law made me a bowl perfect to keep me from spilling my beads on the beach! She's been contracted by the Maine Marathon for MUGS this year! If you're running, she can put your time on the back with the Maine Marathon Logo! VERY COOL!

Sneak peek of the hairchop!
It's even shorter now!

Here are a few of #handyhusband's @handygrams!
Oh how family jokes get taken too far...
This all started with my posting an instagram video
of #handyhusband snoring through the night.
The rest will be history, stay tuned or follow him.
I can guarantee the he will NOT blow up your feed!
He has an old flip phone that he still hasn't learned to use.
He has put me fully in charge of his profile on instagram, but
has taken full responsibility of the actual handygram!

A few years ago, we bought a Tom Deininger Oil from The Donovan Gallery and I'm always so curious to see his work each time we go in. This year, I was totally shocked by his collages! They are AMAZING, but nothing like the oil painting we purchased. So inspired to come home and chop up my stacks of magazines that I haven't a clue why I can't throw them out.

There was a new boutique in Tiverton 4 Corners this year, SALT. Still wishing I had found a way to squeeze this pouf in the back of the car on the way home... but we would have had to leave Hobbs in Westport, sooooo I can make my own pouf, but this Roberta Roller Rabbit one is precious! There's also a new yarn shop, Perfectly Twisted, but they were closed, I couldn't jimmy the lock and I was too short (still am) to peek in the windows for a full report. :[

And what's vacation without food, right?
We ate a lot of lobster and a Maker's share of corn, but...

Until next year charming little harbor town.

...Heaven on Earth...

And yes, I do know how lucky I am!

Get Outta Town !

I've always been obsessed with this
little monkey image and did not realize that
IOMOI had a rewards program!

I'm in need of a new carry on tote and went online to see how much the extra large tote might be and finally get something with these sweet little guys. Well, low and behold, they have an "invite a friend to join" deal and you know how I love that. SO... use my LINK and let's order some cute stuff!!!

All Roads Lead to Everlane !

{If my name was Oprah, you would find one of these under your computer right now!}

My friend Kristen emailed tonight and asked if my
Everlane Post was the real deal or "is it a scam?"

STOP THE BLOG PRESS!
I'm wearing my free T-shirt as I type this.
"How can they do that... just give away T-shirts?"

Because I, for one blogger, can GUARANTEE you
that you will order more and more and more!
I'm just sitting here waiting for size and color restocking
so I can load my shopping cart and take advantage
of my free shipping reward.

I can't wait to watch this line develop,
and to see what they add to their line next.

(A wee note about sizing... I'm an official small, but sometimes order mediums cuz I like 'em slouchy. In the WOMEN'S V, I ordered a Small... next time, I'll get a Medium. It's slim, but not skin tight through the body. In the RYAN POCKET T I ordered an XS and it fits PERFECTLY SLOUCHY! My new FAVORITE T! Notice the longer sleeve length... it's different in a very boyfriendishly girly way. I love it! Bye-Bye James Perse!)

A Closer Look . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------    -----------------

are they cute or what?!!

"Designer and founder Stephanie Housley is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design. She has been living and working in New York as a textile designer, specializing in woven fabrics. Stephanie spends several months out of the year in India, designing textile collections. Her experiences with textiles and crafts in her travels have inspired her unique and sensitive handling of color and surfaces. Stephanie started Coral & Tusk in 2007 with her husband Chris Lacinak." ~ from their website ~

{images from Coral & Tusk by Kate Lacey}

Look closely...
they're all hand-stitched on linen!
Closer... see the whale in the pocket... the little crab!
SO wonderful!

These amazing pocket pillows are by Coral & Tusk and
I discovered them in Selvedge Dry Goods.
When I saw this feather one...yep,
the to-do list just took a hit!

I'm smitten with the feathers on Selvedge,
but when I hit Google and landed on Coral & Tusk's website,
there was so much more to love!

THE OYSTER PILLOW! NEED!

The Pirate Patch kills me!!! LOVE!
Every little boy needs a Pirate's Patch!

From the Lucky White Elephant handtowel to the sparklers,
I am totally smitten!

Click over to their website and make a wish list!
I don't think we can have his sweatshirt,
but this hedgehog scarf might make it into my cart!

(Guilty as charged... just checked out and sitting by my mailbox!)
I think I should have ordered a pirate patch too, oh no!

I borrowed all of the images for my collages from their website.
If you borrow them, please link to Coral & Tusk as well.

Note to people: My scarf arrived and I'm thinkin' I'm pretty cute! I mean the scarf is...you know. FYI, it's a little darker color than it appears online. Kind of a dark khaki/tanish color. I will sport this year-round like a necklace! Love my hedgehog!
