All Her " Pretty Stuff "

Pimlico Magazine featured
Patterson's workspace full of all her "PrettyStuff!" Very cool!
I'm pretty sure we know where she got the pink Lafco candle,
the Dana Gibson canvas pouch and her
Rifle Paper Co. thank you notes!
Cottage Chic strikes again!

Oh and thanks for the shout out on the dishes and the jewelry link!
Patterson is my best customer! I guess you could say
she has a permanent discount code!

Easy, Breezy, Beautiful "Lazy Angel"

(little PrettyStuff watercolor by me : )

I'm not sure why I waited to post this. I guess I wanted to see how it worked before I put it out there. It's not like getting friends to like a T-shirt company and earning yourself a free T-Shirt.

IT'S SO MUCH BETTER THAN THAT!
...I did it...
...Signed up...
...Signed in...
Downloaded the little counter thingy, and wha-la!

All of a sudden I was helping these beautiful children by visiting my favorite websites! I've invited my daughter, Patterson, to shed a little light on the LAZY ANGEL. She works for MANA and knows all about helping hungry little people, but watch the video first...

{Lazy Angel Video}
If you are an email subscriber, you may have to
visit the blog to watch the video!

Hello!

I'm filling in for my dear mother today to tell you all how you can help out malnourished children across the globe without even opening your pocket book.

I know, I know. It sounds impossible. But, in the past week I've funded 5 weeks of Vitamin A coverage, 4 months of deworming coverage, and 5 weeks of Zinc coverage for 3 malnourished kids in Guatemala. And I haven't spent a dime. I've just gone to work everyday, caught up on my favorite blogs, and finished my Christmas shopping.

The Lazy Angel Browser App is the do-gooder blogger's best friend. You simply install this app to your Internet browser and go about your business. While you're perusing the latest issue of Lonny, ogling the many blogger gift guides, and filling your shopping cart on Amazon, you'll also be earning "health points" from the tiny ads that will be displayed at the bottom of your browser. The ads are completely unobtrusive, you'll never get any pop-ups, and Lazy Angel will make sure the ads are relevant to you.

Every six weeks, the average Lazy Angel will provide six months of child nutrition by simply carrying on with their daily web activities. You'll also get to choose which health projects your points will be spent on. What's easier than that? You really just don't have an excuse not to :)

Cheers!
Patterson aka "Pretty Stuff

(Patterson definitely is "pretty is as pretty does!")

Every mother should have healthy, happy beautiful children!
Let's help PrettyStuff spread some love!

Now, don't just follow the steps above. Once you've done this, you can follow your progress while you surf earning "health points." You can click on your health points and select projects to support as well as invite your own friends to participate and ask, from a list of sponsors, for help with your projects. All of these things are quicker than Amazon check-out...so JUST DO IT! FOLLOW US!

See This Little Guy . . .

So glad this semester is over and Hobbs comes home today.
He's 20 now, and although he did participate in "No Shave November"
to raise money for MANA, this is still the best mustache he's ever made!

Wasn't he adorable?
Caught in the act...gathering up all of PrettyStuff's
Barbies stripping them as fast as she could
scream and put their clothes back on.
Of course the noise is different now.
They still pick on each other, but they are the best team.

So, what's my favorite thing about the holidays??

THIS! At HOME!

(couldn't resist the label "Look What I Made," my best work ever, don'tcha think?)

Pretty Stuff for PrettyStuff . . .

My sweet daughter has finally come around.
It took 23 years, but twice in the month of December 2011,
she has asked me for a handknit!

She started small with a winter white cowl to match her sweet new little car, but um... she is not one for baby steps! She went from "I don't really like handknits." (kill me now, just who's daughter is she anyway?) to chunky oversized $1710 Christian Dior "Mom can you make this?" All in a matter of 3 weeks...and I could not be more thrilled to make this for her!!!!!

Rowan Cocoon? Double Strand something with Rowan Kid Silk Haze?

...time for swatching...

Pssst: Next I'll get her to wear a color!

Reunion Time . . .

PrettyStuff just left for her first Wofford Homecoming as an alum!
The stories of Homecoming were always so fun, but I can't
even imagine how much fun they are going to have
as alumni at their first official HOMEcoming!

So, as I reflected back to her graduation,
I realized I never shared the graduation gifts
we made for 12 VERY SPECIAL GIRLS!

We started with 13 (cuz PrettyStuff needed one too) bottles of wine
and stripped them of their labels.

I spent a month of Sundays painting each
little portrait while PrettyStuff
composed the "message in the bottle."

There was a little typo, but we didn't fix it
because it was so appropriate.
See if you can find it.
(you 12 girls can't play this game since you know)

We added an award sticker to for an honorary KD.
There was no way we were going to leave one
of the gang behind just because she went
astray and then found her way!

We then added 13 pair of faceted chalcedony earrings
because I need a little twinkle on everything.

They made quite a special gift!

...And so now it's their first Homecoming...

GO TERRIERS!

(and yes, I can help you with this!)

I ran across this artist today on ~ Joetta Maue's Blog ~ Joetta's fiber art inspires me so, but today, she posted Julie Peppito's work. I believe this is a visual of how a kid's mind, with an over-active imagination, works. I know this because I have one one of those in my house!

I, along with half of y'all, link to ~ PrettyStuff,~ my daughter, on a daily basis, so y'all know how talented she is, but I've promised you I'd give Hobbs, my son, equal time and post ~ his artwork.~ Now's the perfect time, don't you think.

I love his doodles and his ink drawings!
This one's my all-time fave. It's a big piece and I need
to get this framed even though it's gonna break my budget.

"Brown Haze Miasma"
2010 NC Gold Key

This is a small part of a larger, award winning project.
The finished project is still at his high school. (We think!)
We need to go get this, it's wonderful and should hang in his room.

"Why So Serious"
I know, it's dead on right?

"American Superheros"
Boys will be boys!

This one's a "doodle in progress." I LOVE THIS ONE! I wish you could see it in person. Click the image and make it full screen or save it and magnify it. It's fun to really look at this one. You'll be amazed at what you'll find. Unfortunately, I haven't seen him add anything to this in awhile...

He's too busy being creative on his music blog...

I hope y'all enjoy my kids as much as I do!
Hobbs will be heading back to school soon, but Patterson
will be here until she finds her dream job. I know I should want
this to happen soon, but I am enjoying having her home so much.
We ran off to see "The Help" today...more about that later!

Have you seen the new ~ Matchbook Magazine? ~
I have to say, it's their best issue yet and
that has nothing to do with the fact that my

This fifth issue is fresh, clean and, like PrettyStuff says,"deliciously girly!"
I love the illustrations this time!

Was It A Good Thing . . .

...that I let ~ PrettyStuff ~ watch Oprah
every day with me when she was little a little girl?
She adored it...no purple dino for her!

She's always been an old soul. She just gets stuff. They shuffled her out of preschool. They said she was "directing traffic" so she skipped the 4s and went to TK instead. I'm guessing she learned it all from Oprah, cuz she's still calling me with quotes like this and complaining about how a certain class may cut into her Oprah time. Glad she posted this one so I could blog it forward. Thanks "Pete," I missed it. I think it's very fitting that this is Oprah's last season and it's PrettyStuff's last semester...good timing O, but who will PrettyStuff's littles watch...
