Rediculously Cool !

Ok, I know I have all I really need,
so I always say, "If I can't make it, I don't really need it."
because I NEED to make stuff.

I'm loving these paint rollers from

VERY COOL!

Confessions . . .

This is why I scroll.
and scroll...and scroll!

For months I've been painting a bookcase/media cabinet that HandyHusband built for the family room re-do. Each phase has been a painful one for this cabinet. HandyHusband's dyslexia got the pieces all flipped around when he installed a drawer for CDs and that was a tearful discovery when he so proudly brought it home and tried to put it together. (Picture HH in the floor, on his back, with a tear rolling toward his ear.) But it all worked out. Back to the workshop, corrections were made, but it was now my turn on the project. I decided it needed to be "decoratively" painted, distressed and glazed.

Unfortunately, I'm still on the decoratively painted phase...it's a pain!
It takes hours and hours. I'm pleased so far, but I was stuck!
Until I saw the image above this morning on PLAID!
Do you follow their blog? YOU SHOULD!

Images above were gathered from Benjamin Moore by PLAID!
Benjamin Moore Color stories are also a good follow!

Dumpster Divin' . . .

There was an little mishap at work not too long ago with a wobbly shelf and some Rose Medallion... Needless to say, when I arrived (in my true dumpster divin' colors), I went diving into the trash to retrieve the remnants of the early morning crash. I have no idea what I'll do with all of these shards of Rose Medallion, but...

If Shelly's work from my post the other day wasn't inspiration enough,

...here are a few other ideas...

It's No Secret . . .

...that one of my favorite blogs is ~ Honestly WTFI think my favorite thing about it is how they balance their posting. There's a perfect balance of fashion you just picture yourself wearing wishing you had the body to wear could afford and fashion you actually buy. And,as you would have guessed, what usually tips the scale in my direction, is the ~ DIY Posts ~ with fashion you can WTFUY (whip the heck up yourself). I loved seeing her past projects combined in the last picture!

That is what the arms of the kids
would look like if had to run a little "Champ Camp" this summer!

Remember this one?

And these were my all-time faves!

Their ~ Friendship Necklaces ~ are so fun!

psst...
I might even talk ~ PrettyStuff ~ into a little crafty porch day while we're on vacation.
(but, I'd better add taupe floss to my shopping list if I think that will happen!)

I'm guessing there will be some of these supplies packed in
my project bag for our annual trip to New England in a few weeks.
They would actually make a pretty good "car project" for the ride up...
Pretty portable, I think, and I could probably have an arm full
by the time we arrived that would be fun to wear
and embellish while we were there...

If you're reading this in a Reader, don't forget that I keep a little running link list in my ~ sidebar ~ for DIY projects. I'm off to add the ~ friendship bracelet ~ to that list right now! UGHHH and then eat my Cheerios and finish painting the family room. Home Depot, here I come...I should probably grab my ~ hex nuts ~ while I'm there!

Splatter overalls Vogue
(wonder when my painting crew is going to arrive?)

And don't forget the ~ GIVEAWAY ~ only 3 more days to play!

"By the Seat of My Pants ! "

"I've gotchu COVERED!"

"Bringing up the REAR!"

"...sittin' in a tree...k.i.s.s.i.n.g."

"Peace MAKER"

"HOLY Mackerel!"

"Let's SPLIT!"

"What a RIP off!"

"A KNEE-JERK reaction!"

Patches via ~ PrettyStuff's ~ childhood wardrobe,
Hobbs's ~ little-boy-fancy clothes,
my college jean's pocket on the knee,
lots of Liberty prints and cotton embroidery.

Ok, so I have a favorite pair of jeans. I don't even know how old they are. Honestly, they are not that old (or are they Lora?), I just wear them to death...haha literally! They are were Chip & Pepper's "Sorority Girl," but now they are... just hanging on by a thread! I've tried to replace them, but NOTHING fits like these. Even another pair of "Sorority Girls!" Believe me, I've tried! They hang on my hips and baggy in the fanny (what's left of it) to perfection. BUT, when I saw these below today... I wish I could just put mine in a shadowbox frame, hang them on the wall and start over... My patches have patches and they have to be repaired to decency after every washing and it's painfully time consuming.

via ~ Simply Seductive ~

I adore this jacket! It'd look great with my patches!

ps NO, you can't buy my jeans, and I can't fix yours,
it's hard as heck and so time consuming it blows anybody's budget!

Park & Drive

My friend Cat tried to teach me once how to use a drop spindle.
I wanted my "product" to look like this!
All I can remember is Cat singing in my ear, "Park....and Drive."
I sucked at it. But Cat! I want to try again!

M I B . . . Missing In Blogger !

...I've been a wee bit obsessed over my stitches of late...

I noticed today that I hadn't posted a thing on CrushParty since Sunday... WHAT?! How could that be... I've posted a little in the ~ Cul de Sac ~ and set up a "Style File" in Tumblr for ~ Rooney Robison Antiques ~ but looks like CrushParty is this week's red-headed-step-child. I'm so anxious to get to the leafy part of my needlepoint. The blues and greens... I can't hardly stand it! I'm so obsessed. My fingers are killing me.  I painted this canvas so long ago, but lost interest in it because I hated the blues that I had originally purchased. So, Monday night with the girls and The Bachelor, instead of knitting, I picked out all of the blue that had already been stitched and went Tuesday to get new blues and greens. The rest is...well, the rest of my week. I think Tuesday I stayed up until 3am (was that it Woozie... she was up too writing on my facebook wall!) So here I stitch and not blog. Sorry...did you even miss me? Ok, don't answer that...

Clearly, She's Clever !

I just saw this on ~ HonestlyWTF ~
and clearly fell instantly in love!
I've added a link to her DIY in my
"This is how ya do it" list in my sidebar,
so go get your stuff!
MAKE ONE!

You could also get eyelet screws from the hardware store
and add a purse strap...braided ribbon, a chain, velvet or satin cording,
wire wrapped beads...endless ideas. Reminds me of the cigar box purses,
but the Lucite clutch is way more current and chic!
I'm making one if I can find a box!
YOU?!

Canvas The Joint . . .

I finished one of Hobbs's bolster pillows today.
I have no idea what I measured when I started these things,
but when I put the pillow form into what I thought was a finished project...
NOT!

I was almost finished and it was about a foot too long!
I was so focused on getting them the right size around, I guess
I forgot to actually measure the length, so what was suppose
to take me one hour tops, ended up several, a total refitting.
and lots of poking around with the seam ripper.
Seriously, I almost cried. UGHHHH!

But at the end of the day (and the foot of the bed)
One bolster pillow checked off my list.

It looks like a duffle bag and
I lettered it with sentimental locations.
(My feet up there are standing on one of them!)

Pillows for guys are hard. Most guys aren't exactly fans of throw pillows, but I think Hobbs will approve. I'm keeping the trim to a minimum and when I do use it, I'm using the tough manly stuff (hemp). It's insanely difficult to sew as it is so dang thick and stiff. As you can see, my cording join sucks, but it was not a friendly cord and I was so close to throwing it all in the trash, but I figured Hobbs wouldn't care. And if I would quit pointing it out, maybe no one would notice. I wanted to be finished with these two bolsters before Hobbs comes home tomorrow for Thanksgiving Break, but it's not going to happen. What's left to make? 1 bolster, 2 Euros, 2 Standard Pillowcases, 1 18" Pillow, 1 coverlet, a pillow for the rocker, and finish the curtains. There's lots of stuff to frame and hang, but it's starting to look put back together...Maybe by Christmas break?!
